My BlackBerry does many awesome things. Take great pictures, it does not. Ugh, this is really turning out to be a mediocre blog, photo-wise.
But even from this bad photo, you can tell how totally awesome this pizza tasted:
I dressed the pizza with caramelized onions, Gruyere and shaved asparagus (which is totally ridiculous yet irresistible once tossed with olive oil, salt and pepper, just as Smitten Kitchen promised in a similar recipe).
The dough recipe makes enough for two people who are fairly hungry (one of whom has been snacking on the aforementioned caramelized onions, Gruyere and shaved asparagus coated in olive while waiting for the dough to rise) or one person who is very hungry.
Don’t worry about having a rolling pin or pizza stone. We rolled out the crust using a champagne bottle, and you can bake it on a baking sheet. Sprinkle cornmeal on the pan before setting down the dough. It lends a nice texture to the crust and it feels fancy.
A nice side is this little salad topped with avocados and yellow cherry tomatoes FROM MY GARDEN (no big deal).
